Synergy Global is proud to announce the launch of our new training programme, the Certificate Programme in Community Relations Practice in the Extractive Industry. The development of this programme is supported by Anglo American and AngloGold Ashanti as Gold Supporters and by Xstrata as a Bronze Supporter
This is an exciting educational programme aimed at professionals within Africa from extractive industry operations, governments, NGOs, community based organisations and more. This programme has been developed in partnership between Synergy Global and Centre for Sustainability in Mining and Industry (CSMI) at Wits University to address the critical need for capacity and professional skills in community relations within the industry. It consists of 4 short courses, which will be run throughout the next two years. We have departed from “death by powerpoint” to create innovative training formats that include role play, case studies, external expert panel, and video footage analysis to make any learning readily applicable in real work situations.
The first course, Context, Situation, and Community Profiling, will take place from May 20 to 24, 2013, in Johannesburg. This intensive 5-day course focuses on a highly practical understanding of the local area and the key influences and impacts in the extractive industry.
