Looking for a way to take advantage of the extra day this year? Join us for an hour to learn about how a hot new policy change in the United States is having global ramifications for the extractive industries field!
The FRAMEweb team with the African Biodiversity Collaborative Group invite you to join us for an interactive presentation on the Costs of Mining: Artisanal vs commercial and global policy with local impact. Our presenters will explore the crossroads between artisanal and corporate mining. They will examine the case study of the Democratic Republic of Congo which is expecting huge changes to its mining industry brought about from recent legislature passed in the United States. Other nations around the world are watching closely to see the impacts of this transboundary policy, which also influenced the presidential elections in the DRC.
Presenters include:
Anne-Gaelle Javelle, Senior Associate at the World Resources Institute;
Peter Veit, Project Manager for the Equity, Poverty, and Environment Initiative at World Resources Institute
Michael D. Jarvis, Program Leader - Governance for Extractive Industries, World Bank Institute and member of the GOXI community![]()
