This learning and sharing space aims at discussing the dimensions and implications of local content policy and its adoption as a development strategy in oil and gas rich countries from Africa and Latin America.
During this Learning Alliance, participants will discuss and reflect on different strategies and approaches to local content and analyse the policy and outcome experiences of oil and gas producing countries in Latin America and Africa who have experimented with these policies. Learning will be focused on identifying the challenges and opportunities when designing and adopting local content as a strategy to enhance the contribution of the extractive sector to the national economy. Insights will come from experts on these issues.
Who should attend? Professionals who work on topics related to the oil and gas sector with special focus on local content policy; government officials working in ministries or public agencies dealing with non-renewable natural resources; legislators in charge of designing and enacting laws to promote local content at the national or local level; civil cociety representatives, practitioners, and researchers working on extractive industries; representatives from public and private oil and gas companies; and, representatives from the academia and media
