Event Description

How can we ensure meaningful public participation when governments grant mining licenses? How can the public monitor and participate in these government decisions? How do governments and companies engage with communities to discuss mining projects that affect them? How do civil society organisations monitor corruption and ensure accountability?

At this interactive evening side-event to the South African Mining Indaba, Transparency International African Chapters will share their experiences working towards greater public participation in decisions to grant mining licences.
