The Sustainable Development Goals and Mining

On behalf of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF), the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), it is our sincere pleasure to formally invite you to The Sustainable Development Goals and Mining taking place on Saturday, March 5, 2016 in conjunction with the 2016 PDAC Convention in Toronto, Canada. This 4th gathering will build on previous conferences hosted by the Government of Canada in partnership with the World Economic Forum.
This interactive meeting will gather representatives from government, the extractives industry, civil society and academia to discuss the linkages and interaction between the Sustainable Development Goals and mining. Discussion will focus on both the opportunity for mining to make positive steps towards realising the SDGs as well as strategies to minimise negative impacts.
Registration will open at 12:00 pm. The main event will commence at 1:00 pm with a short presentation and panel discussion introducing the topic. Delegates will then separate into roundtable discussions focused on exploring an SDG theme in depth. Finally a panel discussion will be held to explore pathways for implementation.
Following the event conclusion at 5:00 pm a complimentary reception will be held.
