Date: 27th July 2017 | Time: 10:30 EDT / New York
Summary: This webinar will explore why the Indigenous Ubuntu resurgence is important as a philosophical worldview. Dr. von der Porten will begin the session with a summary of her own research on the strategies of a resurgence by local indigenous coastal communities in Canada. The speakers will then discuss how Ubuntu ideas can engage relational connections, and inform the politics of gender constructions, environmentalism, and disabilities. They will speak from their own research, but also share oral teachings from their old ones.
