sharing in governance of extractive industries
3 of us from Transparency International will be attending; 2 from TI Australia and 1 from TI Zimbabwe. We'll be attending most of the CSR / Transparency etc forums as well as speaking at a couple, so let us know if you're around.
I didnt attend, but our organisation AFRODAD, was represented at the Alternative Mining Indaba, a counter event for the official 'elite' Mining Indaba. Selected representative form this Alternative Indaba now dubbed 'People's Indaba' attended the Official Mining Indaba, but as expected, discussions between investors are of maximising profits and rarely if at all about Environmental sustainability and accountability to the citizenry. It is our hope that through the success of the People's indaba,s Civil society groups and community voices will be represented and heard formally in the elite conferences.

It was good to meet at Indaba, Charles. Judging by Angela's comment below, Goxians were active in quite a few different arenas so maybe there'd be scope for a Goxians networking event next year, somewhere between the 2 Indabas?
