Dear members,

My name is Jasmin Blessing. I am thrilled to have just joined UNDP as the new Community Facilitator of the Goxi-Sub Group: Environmental Governance of the Mining sector.

I am originally from Germany. I hold a Masters degree in Human Rights from the National University of Ireland.  I have previously worked with UN WOMEN, the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) and Human Rights Education Associates  (HREA) on human rights and gender issues.

For the last two years I have worked as a Public Policy Specialist in the UN WOMEN Country office in Quito/Ecuador. I am particularly interested in the link between gender equality and environmental management in the mining sector. I also have a keen interest in sustainable development issues and have worked with the SDGs.

I am thrilled to be developing this group with a fresh approach and to share knowledge and experiences on environmental public administration of the mining sector.

I will be sending out relevant resources over the coming months and look forward to your comments and feedback. Please also continue sharing resources that are relevant to the group.

I look forward to fruitful discussions.

Best,

Jasmin Blessing

Hi Piet,

Welcome to Environmental Governance of the Mining Sector Group!  Piet is a project manager working on issues related to  Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM) in Belgium. Please tell us why you have joined the group and what topics you would like to share information on! Thanks!

Hi Jasmin, thanks for the introduction.

Hi all! My name is Piet Wostyn. I am a project manager working at the University of Leuven in Belgium. Among others, I work on issues like Enhanced Landfill Mining (ELFM). We just launched a 2' video on ELFM and I invite you all to watch it and learn on how we try to convert this huge challenge into a new opportunity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pkGfARjPao

Further, I am particularly interested in how human rights, corporate social responsibility and gender issues are incorporated and implemented in environmental public administration of the mining sector. Prior to working at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) I was a Programme Analyst at UN Women where I managed projects on gender, environmental governance and climate change. I would love to learn more about other member´s experiences, and especially on how extractive industries c-co-create sustainable development and manage CSR.
Looking forward to a good discussion!

Hi Piet,

Thank you for your introduction and sharing the videos. Very interesting work you are undertaking! And wonderful that you have been spearheading the gender work on environmental governance and climate change! This week  we  just launched a blog on gender and mining you might be interested in! Looking forward to your comments!

Best,
