Dear members of Media in Extractive Industries (MEI),
A new body of professional media practitioner has been born in Uganda.
Uganda Energy Journalists Association (UEJA) aims at bringing Journalists into a suitable platform which will enable meaningful engagement in not only Uganda’s fledging petroleum industry but also understand extractive industries issues.
The broad objective of UEJA is strengthening the capacity of Journalists on objective reporting and understanding the nature of the Energy/Natural Resources Sector in Uganda.
UEJA specific objectives are:
I am glad to share with you that UEJA is a legal entity. Our medium term goal is to register UEJA as a Non-For-Profit Organisation.
In the next two month, we intend to hold a two-day training session for upcountry and national journalists aimed at enhancing their skills and grow the numbers of Journalists who will cover accurate and factual analysis and investigation related to the energy sector.
But UEJA faces resources mobilisation challenges. Any idea, suggestions and assistance is highly welcome.
