The “Supporting the Ministry of Mines” (SUMM) project in Ethiopia is a five-year, $15 million project funded by Global Affairs Canada. The project is designed to strengthen the capacity and organizational management of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Mines (MoM) at operational and strategic levels. The project’s ultimate objectives are to improve resource governance and long-term management of a sustainable mining sector in Ethiopia.
CIRDI is currently seeking experts for several short term activities for the SUMM project in several areas including: mineral licensing and cadastral systems; public geoscience information and data systems; geology, mineral deposits, exploration and mining; organizational structure, human resourcces, strategic planning and change management; Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA); industrial minerals; and legal and administrative framework of mining legislation.
