In 2014, Projekt-Consult has become a member of GFA Consulting Group GmbH – one of the leading European consulting companies for implementing development cooperation programs.
For our office in Hamburg, we are currently looking for open-minded and versatile consultants (m/f) to join our team for mining and mineral resources: (i) consultant for artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) / resource governance and/or (ii) consultant for due diligence / mineral supply chains.
The consultant will be responsible for project management, acquisition and strategic business development in the field of mining and mineral resources.
The duty station will be Hamburg, with frequent travel to developing countries worldwide. Key responsibilities will include:
·Leading the acquisition process of new projects, including elaboration and coordination of technical and financial proposals;
·Conducting technical short-term consultancy missions, including participation in feasibility and project preparatory studies and advisory services;
·Establishing and maintaining regular professional contacts and networking with clients, partners and sector experts;
·Fully responsible management of projects and studies (backstopping), on-site and Hamburg-based;
·Writing of reports, concepts and presentations as well as contributing to knowledge and quality management;
Interested candidates are expected to have specific experience in one of the following areas:
Qualifications (i) ASM / resource governance specialist
·University degree (Master or PhD) in law, social or geosciences or related area with focus on mineral resources;
·At least 3 years of relevant working experience in the context of mineral resource projects, international mining or geo-sector institutions working on resource governance or support to artisanal and small scale mining (ASM);
·Working experience in training and capacity development projects including policy advice in one or more of the following fields: legal, environmental, social and fiscal dimensions of resource extraction.
Qualifications (ii) due diligence / mineral supply chains specialist
·University degree (Master or PhD) in social sciences, business administration or related area with focus on supply chains or certification schemes;
·At least 3 years of relevant working experience in the context of international supply chain projects in the mineral sector, especially working on traceability and mineral certification;
·Working experience in advisory or audit of up- and/or downstream companies on ethical sourcing and responsible mining
General qualifications and requirements
· Full proficiency in written and spoken English, working knowledge of French and/or Spanish; German would be an advantage;
· Familiarity with the international development sector (such as EuropeAid, WB, SDC/SECO), incl. German donor agencies (GIZ, KfW, BGR), and a well-founded understanding of the strategies and programs of the relevant donor agencies would be an asset;
· Strong writing, communication and presentation skills;
· Willingness to frequently travel abroad;
· Ability to manage complex situations with a sense of pragmatism.
