Dennis Okore is communications practitioner with over 10 years of experience and expertise around Government Relations, Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability mustered from stints in Media, legal, health, humanitarian and Energy. During these stints he has acquired as board level experience, fully developed analytical skills, capacity for growing businesses and solid understanding of designing and implementing results bearing business and program level communications strategies.
Currently, he is working with Tullow Kenya BV Tullow Kenya BV (A Leading independent oil and gas exploration Company also listed as London FTSE 200) where he is solely responsible for field/operations level communications across onshore licensed blocks across Kenya with accountabilities for delivering interruption free operations. His mandate involves leading teams through multi-stakeholder engagement initiatives to provide understanding of National Content, Social Investments, Environment Health&Safety, Land Access and Grievance Mechanism as well as other Above Ground Risk factors. He has successfully led in the implementation of relevant systems and processes to create awareness on the nascent industry and a sustained social licence to operate. Prior to this, for 2 years he was part of the corporate team focused on delivering the brand and communications strategy at the head office in Nairobi in the early days of the Kenya Business.
Prior to this he was part of the team that established humanitarian communications in the Horn of Africa Somali refugee refugee operations (Kenya/Djibouti/Ethiopia Programs) to support over 600,000 thousand refugees access timely humanitarian assistance and protection.
He has understanding and a full working knowledge of industry standards as well as various instruments frameworks across industries like : the UN Global Compact, Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights, IFC Performance Standards, EITI Rules and Equator Principles among others.
Dennis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Media Technology from Maseno University – Kenya, and writing his thesis Masters in Organizational Leadership from Africa International University (AIU) - Kenya. He is also a member of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK). He is currently pursuing Masters in Public Policy and Management at the Strathmore Business School and has interests in current affairs (local and international) ,law, Humanitarian Assistance, public policy, Disruptive Technologies (AI,VR ), Governance, ethics, Agribusiness, New Media & development; Communications Technology
Dennis is Rotarian and currently the focal communications person for clubs in Western Kenya.
