The programme will strengthen the environmental, gender, human rights, and rule of law dimensions of public administration work in large-scale mining sectors, working with ministries of the environment, mining, planning and finance, as well as other public and private stakeholders.

Thanks Jasmin for inviting me to join the group. My name is Cynthia Simkonda; i serve as a Programme Officer for Natural Resources thematic area at Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy (CEPA) in Malawi. I have over 6 years of experience working with rural communities, government and non-governmental organizations. I am responsible for leading CEPA’s engagement on general Extractive Industries (EI) governance work. I am passionate about improving governance and social, economic and environmental rights in Malawi and beyond. I am keen on seeing that environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) are properly conducted for all mining operations.
