About My Work
Kirsten Hund is a Sr. Mining Specialist with the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank, where she works on Mineral sector governance and sustainable development in mineral rich developing countries. Her current responsibilities include leading mining sector support projects in Ethiopia, Armenia, Georgia, Ghana and Niger, as well as coordinating global knowledge projects Mining and Climate Change and ‘Forest Smart Mining’. Having worked on the social and environmental impacts of oil and mineral extraction for over a decade, she joined the World Bank in August 2012. Prior to joining the World Bank she served as the regional advisor on extractive industries for the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Central African office, based in Gabon, and as a Sr Social Specialist with SRK Consulting in Johannesburg. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands and a DEUSS in International Humanitarian Assistance from the University of Aix-Marseille, France.
