Nicholas Garrett is a Director at RCS Global (www.rcsglobal.com). He is one of the globally leading experts across RCS Global’s five core work areas in the extractive industries and conflict mineral supply chains: due diligence and responsible supply chains; natural resource governance and transparency; artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM); sustainability; and access to resources.

He has worked as Project Director or Lead Consultant on 50+ projects across the globe and regularly advises and implements for leading companies, development organisations, governments and NGOs, particularly in complex, conflict-affected and high-risk areas. Clients include Apple, Nokia, AngloGold Ashanti, the World Gold Council, the British, German, Japanese and US Governments, the World Bank, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), World Vision and many others.

Next to his strategic work, he also focuses on clients’ regulatory and good practice compliance and has full process knowledge of Dodd Frank 1502, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance, the RJC Code of Practices and Chain of Custody standard, the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance, the WGC Conflict Free Gold Standard, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), Dodd Frank 1504 and many others.

Nicholas has written his PhD (cum laude) on the artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) sector and the 'conflict minerals' issue’ in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Freie Universität, Berlin. He also holds an MSc in International Development Management from the London School of Economics (LSE).

Nicholas works in English, French, German and Spanish. He is a widely published author and regular presenter with an extensive network.
