Invitation to comment on the EITI's data work

The International Secretariat invites stakeholders to provide comments on its open data efforts by 7 January 2019. The International Secretariat is working towards proposing a revised open data policy and summary data template to the EITI Board in Kiev, in February 2019.

Open data is an integral feature of the EITI’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the extractive industries. There are two open consultations:

   1. EITI’s Open data policy is being reviewed. The review will consider recent developments and opportunities related to open data, especially considering the Board’s decision to encourage systematic disclosure.

Comments are welcome until 7 January 2019 to data@eiti.org.

   2. The EITI is reviewing the data template that summarises EITI Reports. We invite data users to comment on opportunities to improve the collection, dissemination and use of EITI summary data. Based on experience from the current summary data template, the International Secretariat has drafted a revised version with the aim of improving the consistency and usefulness of this data. Stakeholders are invited to comment on: (i) does the draft template adequately address challenges encountered with data collection, including user guidance and issues related to standardisation; and, (ii) does the template adequately incorporate new developments of the EITI such as systematic disclosures and project-level reporting?

Comments are welcome until 7 January 2019 to data@eiti.org.
