Junior Analyst and Project Manager

JULY 2016

The Opportunity

The Dragonfly Initiative is looking for a smart, curious, analytical individual to fill an initial one-year contract with high likelihood of conversion to a full-time position, starting immediately.

This is a chance to work with and learn from a very experienced team and contribute to a number of fascinating, influential and potentially ground-breaking projects in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), supply chain management and impact investing.

TDI’s offices are located near Cirencester, Gloucestershire UK. We accommodate remote, flexible and autonomous working arrangements in return for a commitment to extremely high-quality deliverables, working to fulfil project goals, and consistently meeting deadlines. Where the candidate is located is less important than his or her professional ability, commitment, and personal energy.

The Dragonfly Initiative

The Dragonfly Initiative is a sustainability advisory platform with expertise in management, business, and technical consultancy; project incubation services; and, implementation capabilities; as well as communications and public relations support. We are expert generalists and believe in a rounded full-service approach to assignments to ensure full value is delivered and sticks with our clients.

We have a sector focus on the natural resource value chains – especially extractive, mining and mineral sectors, from mine to market. We work with resource companies large and small, refiners, manufacturers and electronic companies, luxury brands, retailers, investors, standard-setters and NGOs.

We have a track record that includes working with the world’s biggest companies and most recognizable brands, as well as lesser-known middle-of-the-chain businesses and innovative social enterprises. Our projects include building ESG management systems for investors; the design and application of supply chain due diligence tools and procedures; completing project level non-technical risk assessments and provision of subject matter expertise for sustainability audits; the development of commercialisation strategy for green products and services; and, convening, managing and facilitating multi-company and cross-sector initiatives and summits.

The Role

The Junior Analyst will report to TDI’s Director, and work with closely with other TDI team members. The chosen person will complete research assignments, analyses, writing tasks; develop management tools and presentational materials as part of project deliverables; and, support TDI’s team to complete site-assessments and due diligence for the firm’s clients.

Project management roles will include assisting the Director to coordinate project staff workflow, document versioning, and client liaison. The person will be expected to have a confident and easy manner with TDI’s clients, with whom he or she will have frequent and direct contact. The Manager will be expected to work autonomously, manage his or her time efficiently, and deliver work products and assignments on time.

Everyone that works in our team speaks directly with our clients, which means that strong written and verbal communications are a requisite, as well as confidence in dealing with people at a range of different levels. Research and data analysis are a key part of this role; so being comfortable with basic numeracy and spreadsheets is important. Similarly, logic and reasoning skills are a must to tackle problems successfully.

We are a small team, the members of which work remotely and travel frequently. The individual will need to be happy working autonomously, managing their own time, prioritising work-load, thinking on their feet, taking the initiative to ask questions and find solutions to problems. We are not based in a major city and so the individual will need to appreciate a rural setting. Working from home with visits to the office is an option for this position.

We are a mission-driven organization, and so passion and curiosity for what we do are great traits in any candidate.

Our Culture

We practice a work-place MO that emphasises clarity of project goals and deliverables, the frequent setting of expectations, and immediate feedback on performance.

Work permission for the UK is a sensitive subject right now - How is this going to work out for citizens of the EU?
