sharing in governance of extractive industries
My colleagues and I at NRGI just published a report on DRC's mining code reform. We demonstrate that there is no need for the reform process to be stalled because of conflicting views on the fiscal regime: there is ample room for a revision of the code that would respond to concerns from investors, government officials and civil society. We share a number of recommendations to help move the reform forward.
We wrote an oped that was published in This Is Africa : http://www.thisisafricaonline.com/News/Saving-DRC-s-mining-law-reform
The report is accompanied by two open fiscal models (one on copper, one on gold) that can be downloaded from the page: http://resourcegovernance.org/analysis-tools/publications/sortir-de...
Note that all material is in French, the official language of the DRC, but English versions of the excel models will be added soon.
