Call for Abstracts: International Conference on Geology, Mining, Minerals and Groundwater Resources of the Sub Saharan Africa, Livingstone, Zambia, on 11-13 July, 2017.
The University of Zambia School of Mines will hold an International Conference on Geology, Mining, Minerals and Ground water Resources of the Sub Saharan Africa at Chrismar Hotel, Livingstone, Zambia, on 11-13 July, 2017.
As part of the ACP-EU Development Minerals Programme focus country activities in Zambia, sponsorship is available for ten (10) African participants to attend the conference to present papers during a dedicated Special Session on Development Minerals. Applications will be accepted from African participating countries in the programme (see list below #). The sponsored participants will receive financial support to cover travel, accommodation, conference registration fees and daily subsistence. The conference will be delivered in English.
‘Development Minerals’ are minerals and materials that are mined, processed, manufactured and used domestically in industries such as construction, manufacturing, and agriculture (Franks et al., 2016). Possible topics for the papers, include: resource potential of Development Minerals; challenges and opportunities in exploration and exploitation of Development Minerals; the socio-economic importance of Development Minerals; technology and innovation in mineral processing and value addition of Development Minerals; participation of ASM in Development Minerals; and access to geological information for Development Minerals operators.
Abstracts must be submitted latest by 30th April 2017. Submissions should be submitted with the subject heading 'Abstract submission for Zambian geoscience conference' to the following addresses: firstname.lastname@example.org; email@example.com; firstname.lastname@example.org. All enquiries should be directed to email@example.com. Abstracts from self-sponsored candidates will also be considered.
Each abstract must be limited to 500 words and without any figures or tables. It should be saved as MS Word format, doc. file. Please leave a 25 mm margin on all sides. Titles should be typed in Times New Roman with 14pt bold font size in upper and lower cases, and left justified. Affiliations must be in upper and lower case, left justified in Times New Roman font 10 pt with numbered superscripts to indicate the affiliation of each contributor and with an E-mail address of the corresponding author in the parenthesis. The main text will be single spaced text in Time New Roman font 10pt without section headings.
The selection will be based on successful review and acceptance of the abstract papers by a panel of the Scientific Committee. The accepted abstracts must be available for oral presentation. Woman are highly encouraged to apply. Sponsored applicants will be required to submit a full paper for academic publication after the conference as part of a Return to Work Project.
