Vacancy: Research Assistant at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining

There is a vacancy for a Research Assistant at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining, part of the Sustainable Minerals Institute at The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.

The Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining (CSRM) is a leading research centre, located within the Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), which is committed to improving the social performance of the resources industry globally. CSRM's focus is on the social, economic and political challenges that occur when change is brought about by resource extraction and development.

The successful appointee will work on a range of projects relating to the social performance and community impacts of resource extraction projects, within Australia and/or internationally. The Research Assistant will conduct research, analysis and report writing and assist with project administration.  We are particularly looking to recruit candidates with skills and experience in one or more of the following:

  •  Collection, management and analysis of quantitative data
  •  Conducting research in, and relating to, Indigenous communities
  •  Ethnographic research
  •  Desktop studies using secondary data
  •  Quantitative surveys and statistical analysis
