At the end of April, more than a 50 miners died in a landslide in northern Myanmar's jade mines. Myanmar's new gemstone law does not adequately address the root causes that make these tragedies so common. Change is urgently needed to ensure that the multi-billion dollar jade industry brings benefits to the people of Myanmar.
