sharing in governance of extractive industries

A weekly digest of activity on GOXI

By 2025, Ørsted foresees that 99% of its power and heat generation will come from renewables, Nicolas Maennling reports. Thus, Denmark's largest power producer will have made a near-full transition from "black power" to "green power."

Such transition to a low-carbon economy is one of the seven trends shaping the future of the mining and metals industry, Maennling further argues.

"The astonishing gap between what a diamond engagement ring or gold wedding ring represents and how it is sourced is a profound metaphor for disconnect in our times," says Marc Choyt, as he likens the layers of obfuscation to a Russian Matryoshka doll and calls out the gravitation to One Language in the ethical jewelry realm.

But even between the UK and US markets for ethical sourcing, major differences exists, which Choyt interprets.

Once again, the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), the World Bank and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) present a massive open online course on Natural Resources for Sustainable D... The Fundamentals of Oil, Gas and Mining Governance. REgister now for the course starting on May 6, 2019
