GOXI

sharing in governance of extractive industries

A weekly digest of activity on GOXI

On one side, the indigenous Shuar people. On the other side, a Chinese-Ecuadorian collaboration. Piet Wostyn shares an article on the David vs Goliath battle of El Mirador.

Some of the most pronounced challenges for economic diversification in resource-rich countries, as outlined by the report, are commodity price fluctuations, strategies and enabling environment, political will, institutional quality and human capital, and resources constraints. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) has produced an instrument for resource-rich countries to navigate these headwinds and promote economic diversification. Presenting The Navigator.

Fiscal regimes along the mineral value chain in Africa remain incoherent, inconsistent and patchy, according to report by the African Minerals Development Center (AMDC). Commissioned by the African Union (AU) heads of state, the report recommends harmonizing fiscal regimes, in particular royalties, much like an orchestra. The report is available in English and French.

With all the drama in Tanzania's extractives sector, Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) analyzes the ins and outs of the changes.

And PWYP Indonesia continues talking about coal as it describes the "chaotic state of coal mining permit" in that country.

These and more jobs, blogs, photos, videos, and discussions are on GOXI.
