A weekly digest of activity on GOXI

Do good - This week, Antoine Heuty addresses how to scale up shared value and Suman Chowdry looks at impact investing.

Do no evil - Jim Wright analyzes which aspects of human rights are of greatest risk to mining companies and he drills deeper into Colombia on the eve of fracking.

Do the right thing - Sierra Leone takes another positive step towards extractive industries transparency in partnership with GIZ while the IMF proposes a new template to standardize government revenues from natural resources and the McKinsey Global Institute advocates that resource-driven economies become "resource tigers."

Featured Member - Alan Wolfe

Alan Wolfe is co-convener of Transparency International Australia's regional committee in Perth, Western Australia and helps organize quarterly events on integrity issues relevant to the unique political-economy of Western Australia and the businesses located there. With significant support from businesses, government, civil society and universities, it is hoped the discussions will help improve integrity outcomes both domestically and abroad, particularly regarding extractives issues.

Currently, Alan is consulting to Transparency International Australia on a proposed program on Mining & Corruption. Commencing with a research phase in mid-2014, the program will map corruption risks, analyze stakeholders and produce a gap analysis at both a global level and domestically in 7 countries. Full implementation of the program is scheduled for 2015 and by reducing corruption risks, would seek to increase the possibilities of mining to contributing to development.
