sharing in governance of extractive industries

A weekly digest of activity on GOXI

The people of Afghanistan and investors can now see all licenses issued and payments made to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, thanks to a new transparency portal, which currently represents more than USD 180 million in government revenue.  Aasmund Andersen tells us more.

Still on transparency, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) has announced that its global conference this year will be hosted in Paris by the Government of France.

Following the Paris meet, former Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark will assume her role as chair of the EITI.

But happening now is the Mining Indaba in Cape Town, and the World Bank invites attendees to participate in its events.
