sharing in governance of extractive industries

A weekly digest of activity on GOXI

In seven days, the massive open online course on Natural Resources for Sustainable Development: The Fundamentals of Oil, Gas, and Mining Governance course begins. The course is brought to you by Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), the World Bank and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). Register now.

Mendee Jargalsaikhan takes us back to 1911 to begin his seven-part series on Mining Governance in Mongolia (Hint: It's "a messy field").

The late 1990s and early 2000s were an especially opaque period in the allocation of mineral rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), writes Marie Lintzer. But some progress is underway to shed light on some of these deals.

The changes in Mexico's Oil and Gas sector call for a special issue of OGEL journal, with Professor Owen L. Anderson of the University Texas School of Law as guest editor. Submit your paper.

"Jana Naujoks begins a conversation on how to assess the activities of multinational corporations through a ‘gender lens’.

And Eric Joyce asks: Why are NGOs so white?
