sharing in governance of extractive industries

A weekly digest of activity on GOXI

Not all is rocky with the UK government. Publish What You Pay UK reports that a government review of the policy requiring extractive companies to report their payments to government country by country, project by project, is "on course to achieve its objective."

In collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK), PWYP Indonesia too presents its report on Coordination and Supervision on Mineral and Coal Mining Sector.

Across the ocean, in Zimbabwe, the Parliament Portfolio Committee on Mines and Energy too has produced a report on its findings and recommendations concerning the allegedly missing $15 billion Marange diamond revenue. Mukasiri Sibanda has more.

Mukasiri also has shares a piece about the "potentially, exciting opportunities to propel sustainable rural economies" through artisanal and small-scale gold mining.

And Sun-Min Kim explores the role of auditors in the implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in Guinea. (En français)
