Featured member - Gokce Mete

Gokce Mete has over seven years of practical and academic experience in energy and natural resources law and governance. She is a qualified lawyer with post-qualification experience in the resources sector.
Gokce is currently the Content Lead of the Extractives Hub project at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at University of Dundee since March 2016. This is a multi-million pound sterling, UK-funded project, jointly led by the CEPLMP, OpenOil, and Adam Smith International. The project aims to support natural resources-rich developing nations from Africa and Asia to make informed decisions regarding extractives (mining and petroleum) sector development.

In CEPMLP, Gokce also gives lectures on Decommissioning in Oil and Gas Law and on the Mine Closure Planning Process in Mining Law courses. She submitted her PhD in 2018 as an Association of International Petroleum Negotiators Scholar at the CEPMLP, University of Dundee. Her research examines EU internal energy market legislation, assessing its potential to attract investment into energy infrastructure.

Gokce represents the CEPMLP as Project Implementation Consortium (PIC) member of the African Mining Atlas project of the African Legal Support Facility. She was selected as a Future Energy Leader by the World Energy Council in 2016. She is also Asia, Middle East and Africa Section Editor of the Encyclopaedia of Mineral and Energy Policy.
