About My Work
Rocio Avila Fernandez is Oxfam’s Latin America Regional Program Coordinator for Extractive Industries. She coordinates the organization’s efforts to promote greater transparency and respect for human rights in the region’s extractive industries projects. She has experience in promoting participatory processes with civil society through network-building, capacity strengthening, campaign coordination and political advocacy with governments, international financial institutions and corporations. In-depth knowledge and political analysis of natural resource issues in Latin America countries. She is based in Washington, DC. Prior to Oxfam, she worked on mining and human rights issues in Peru, Bolivia.
