Inside the Issues 3.28 | Indigenous Rights in Global Governance

With states issuing apologies to indigenous peoples and the adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, it is an historically interesting time to consider questions around the internationalization of indigenous rights and governance. In a special edition of Inside the Issues, guest host Dr. Andrew Thompson welcomes Dr. Terry Mitchell and José Aylwin for a chat on Indigenous rights in global governance. The discussion includes background on their work, the related historical context and a breakdown of the diverse group of project partners involved. With the gap between what states consider aspirational goals and what indigenous peoples consider necessary rights for cultural survival still huge, work to bridge policy and practice remains critical.
