Transparency International Australia (TI Australia), the Australian chapter of the world’s leading non-governmental anti-corruption movement, is seeking a full-time Advocacy and Communications Coordinator located in Melbourne, Australia, to help implement a new global thematic initiative, the Mining for Sustainable Development Programme. The role requires a highly motivated professional with sound experience in coordinating advocacy and communication strategies to support civil society initiatives.
Led by TI Australia with the support of the TI Secretariat, the Mining for Sustainable Development Programme seeks to enhance, as a global thematic network initiative, the contribution of mining to sustainable economic and human development through a focus on improved transparency and accountability in awarding mining permits, licences and contracts across a range of national jurisdictions. Working with and through TI chapters in Africa, the Americas, Asia and Eastern Europe, the programme engages with a wide range of stakeholders from government, the mining industry and the non-governmental sector at national, regional and global levels to ensure that:
The Advocacy and Communications Coordinator will develop communication plans and products targeting a range of audiences and stakeholders (including the media) to convey the Programme’s positions and advocacy messages, identify and act upon communication and advocacy opportunities, and support Programme-related fundraising and resource mobilisation efforts at TI Australia.
