It's no secret that Russian investors (and parts of its military establishment) have been looking to make investments in Zimbabwe's platinum sector.  I would look to Russia for the investors behind Karo.  I don't know this for sure, but I do know that many Russian investors make international investments through Cyprus because of its favourable tax treaties with Russia and other countries.  This could be a case of "treaty shopping" as many of the transfer pricing experts would call it.
