I agree with the Business Day article; as the leading investor in the extractive sector on the continent-including in those controlled by some of its most corrupt regimes- it's only logical that SA lead the way in transparency-related initiatives; joining EITI would be a powerful signal for all and sundry about their unflinching commitment to good governance and would help put them in a position of strength when dealing with injustices that might be directed at their interests as they continue expanding.
