Just read with lots of interest your post. I fully agree with your statement 'Half of all risks faced by extractives companies are non-technical ones' but unfortunately this truth doesn't seem to be fully appreciated across the EI in spite of the stats. The paradigmatic shift is needed. In my work in eastern DRC I've encountered some examples of whole communities manipulated by extremely devious and well connected members hell-bent on self-enrichment posing as bona fide stakeholders whose malicious activities deep inside the community, and duplicitous schemes cannot be mitigated with good old conventional engagement approaches only...alternative ideas and methods are called for and I guess that's part of what you are pioneering.
