Event Description

Harnessing the Extractive Industries for Development 2019 (EX4DEV19) is an interdisciplinary workshop and networking event held over one day at Surrey Business School, University of Surrey.

The aim is to enable researchers to meet practitioners from the private sector, development consultancies, policymakers, and NGOs in order to network, enhance collaboration, and foster relationships between academia and industry.

Now in its fourth year, the focus of EX4DEV19 is on the link between Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The workshop is structured around three panels specifically relating to the SDGs:

  • Decent Work and Financial Inclusion
  • Gender and Inequality
  • Environment and Health

Following the workshop, all participants are invited to submit papers and shorter viewpoints for publication in a special issue in an international academic journal (to be confirmed)

All details of the workshop can be found on the Ex4Dev19 website: https://ex4dev.com/

The 2019 workshop is sponsored by:
