This course offers an introduction into the key stages of the just transition process from coal, and the challenges the just transition brings to local communities. Learners will get acquainted with key regulatory frameworks that apply to various aspects and stages of the energy transformation in the Western Balkan states and Ukraine. The course explores the key management structures which are needed to tackle planning and implementing the transition, e.g. financing, stakeholder engagement and effective communication. Also, the course presents examples of successful interregional cooperation in the framework of twinning projects and the different steps applicable to knowledge exchange planning and delivery.
