This course elaborates on the importance of land re-purposing – a key part of a successful just transition – connecting it with other transition elements such as land use, regional development, attracting new low-carbon investments, and creation of new employment opportunities.
The course presents the methodology and guidance for implementation of land re-purposing and land utilizations plans, balancing environmental, social and economic needs. Each module explains the necessary terminology, basic concepts of reclamation and re-purposing, and development of repurposing scenarios.
Finally, the participant of the course is provided with examples of reclamation and repurposing that can serve as lessons learned from different approaches to the just transition process.
